Summer Camps and Children

Saturday, November 28th, 2009
jack asked:

The main cause for which the summer camps have been organized is to give the children an opportunity to develop new skills and to mix and mingle with the children. There are number of summer camps that have been organized based on the skills of the children. Some of the favorite summer camps which are mostly preferred by the students are the residential camps that help the children to interact and develop on their interpersonal skills. You can even find the camps that just long for a day and there are even camps that last for about several days, so there are varieties of camps which you can find. You can also find some of the summer camps providing transportation facilities to the working place of the summer camps.

Summer camps are some of the examples of the events for which the kids are motivated by themselves through their friends who have already been to the summer camps. The kids can also be motivated intrinsically through the brochures of the summer camps or even through the radio or the television advertisement. It has been observed that many of the parents and the grandparents rejuvenate the memories of their summer camps and hence it has been seen that many kids whose parents and the grand parents have experienced the summer camps experience and go in for the summer camps. The parents can take this option when they get a feel that their kids need an outing and their kids have started feeling restless hence they go in for this rejuvenating option.

Incase you are doubtful about the option of summer camps and you consider it as a good option but you are doubtful about the camps as you have not experienced it before then you can get the views of the other children as well as the other parents and they would agree to the fact about the fun and the different experiences.  It would be very easy to make your kids agree about the fact of the enjoyment levels when they are told by the other children hence it is to be remembered that incase you are trying to convince your kids then getting the other kids to tell about the benefits of the camp can make your task really easier. You need to get the kids to have a get together and do not try and force the topic they themselves would ask each other and the purpose would be facilitated just by a mere get together. It is quite obvious that the result is going to have a positive impact and the kids will just want to be given a chance to visit the summer camps which are going on.

Where to Camp Around Royan

Thursday, November 26th, 2009
Stephen Lane asked:

Anyone looking to go camping in South West France, but who hasn’t decided which part to head to would do well to consider the area around Royan. Campsites in this area are of an extremely high standard, and near to some of the most outstanding scenery in the whole of France, from the expansive golden beaches and tranquil pine forests to the beauty and charm of La Rochelle.

If you’re looking for Royan campsites, there are some excellent choices available. These four are some of the best campsites in South West France, let alone Royan!

Bonne Anse Plage

Bonne Anse Plage is a superb choice for families looking for a campsite in South West France with plenty to do. As well as the two swimming pools (one exclusively for children) and colourful twisting slides, the Royan campsite also boasts its own 18 hole mini golf course which is sure to keep you coming back time and time again to improve upon your score!

The site itself is picturesque, with plenty of pine trees around to offer shade from the warm French sunshine. On the other hand, if you prefer to bask in the glorious sunshine, the beach is just 600 metres away. Cyclists will also find the number of cycle paths in the nearby forest a delight to explore.

Camping Interlude

Located on the Ile de Ré, this is an island campsite near Royan that’s perfectly suited to families with young children. There are plenty of beaches, and gentle waters which are ideal swimming and play, while the sands make the perfect spot for picnics and beach games. Then of course, there’s plenty on site including a sauna, jacuzzi, gym and an indoor/outdoor pool. There’s nothing better than spending a day exploring the island’s interesting cycle paths, before enjoying a hearty meal at the campsite’s restaurant.

Camping le Puits de l’Auture

This spacious site is amongst my favourite campsites in South West France. The biggest draw is its location: very close to the long stretch of white sands and calm blue waters. The Royan campsite itself is pretty memorable too, with colourful flowerbeds, well spaced trees, swimming pools and kids’ playground. There’s a snack bar and take-away on site, and a good selection of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the site for the kind of lazy, warm evenings that Royan camping trips are all about.

Séquoia Parc

If there were a prize for the most visually appealing campsite in Royan, Séquoia Parc would definitely win it. Laid out in the spacious, sunny grounds of Chateau de la Josephtrie, the fields of sunflowers and vineyards make for an outstanding backdrop to your holiday. It has a number of swimming pools onsite, as well as a jacuzzi and bar, and the quiet country roads nearby are perfect for cyclists on your Royan camping trip.

The watchword for holidays spent camping in South West France is ‘relaxation’. All of these Royan camping hotspots make for a great base to recharge your batteries, and their spaciousness and cheerful family atmosphere makes them the perfect place to take the family - especially those with young children. If you’re camping in South West France, you can’t go wrong with any of these!

Camping Outdoors - the Perfect Budget Holiday

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
Mike Yardwood asked:

Need a Fun, Low-cost Idea for a Family Trip? Go Camping!

Camping is not as popular as it used to be but is once more gaining in popularity because of the higher cost of fuel making it difficult to plan affordable vacations. If you have never been camping it is wise to take someone with you that has some experience or stay close to home for your first camping excursion. If this is the first time you’ve thought of it you should know that it is a great way to bond with your family.

Camping Equipment

Make sure to pack everything you need! Make a list and check off each item as you get it into the vehicle. The most important things to remember are waterproof tents, sleeping bags, clothes, first aid kit, flashlights, fire starting tools, food and water. Your tent(s) should be big enough to fit one extra person besides those actually planning to sleep in them. This gives everyone elbow room and prevents irritation caused by cramped spaces. Make sure you have extra batteries for flashlights and 2-way radios. Do not count on your cell phones for emergencies! If you will be cooking, be sure to bring a grate for placing over the fire or a kerosene stove with pans and utensils.

Camping: The Perfect Bonding Vacation

If you are going camping, it is wise to leave all video games, music players and texting/phone devices at home or disallow the use of texting with the exception of emergencies. Camping is meant to connect you with nature and allow real communication between family members. Cell phones, texting technology and video games are hindrances to communication. That may sound funny, but it is true. Instead, encourage open dialogue between campers. Pretend your family is the only thing that exists. If you have teens who have never been camping, the first trip may be hard for them. Show some patience but don’t give in when they complain about not having their cell phones, music and games. It is important for everyone to know how to interact without technology. Have you ever tried to bond with someone who is always texting? It is impossible - even if you text them, too! Sitting around the campfire and chatting can be enjoyable and revealing.

If you are looking for an inexpensive vacation that gives you the chance to bond with your family, camping is the perfect choice!

A Guide to Powering your Campsite

Monday, November 23rd, 2009
Kenneth Elliott asked:

Camping and the great joys of experiencing the outdoors, the fresh air, beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, the bird cherping and the ever increasing feelings of peace. Although this is definitly the whole outlook of a camping experience, there are advantages to modern civilization, too, and not all of them have to be left behind. Their is a place for cooking over a fire or having a lighting source other than a kerosene lamp or even having a cell phone, GPS units or other devices that all require some kind of power.

To have these modern conviences their needs to be a power souce to tap into. Most power sources are gas or electric, though liquid fuels like ‘Coleman fuel’ or white gas, kerosene and unleaded gasoline are used as well. If you drive an RV to the campsite, you may be able to power a number of things off the RV, either by connecting to large batteries, or using it as a generator. But most sources will require a self-contained source.

Back in the day the only power source available was kerosene, which was a popular choice for both cooking and lighting. But the unpleasant smell made it less than ideal. Today, most lighting is electric. Coleman-style lamps are everywhere, even though Coleman is far from the only manufacturer. Being copied is the price of producing a successful design.

Solar powered lighting is becoming more common and is a valid source for any campsite. Most campsites, at least during non-winter months, have ample sunshine anywhere outside heavily tree-shaded areas. Photo-voltaic cells are used to absorb all that free energy, storing it up for later use. They convert that radiant energy into electrical power, typically storing it in rechargeable batteries. Depending on the strategy solar cells can power a great majority of a campsite.

The efficiency of contemporary solar cells is so high that lamps can now be used for up to 12 hours, and some have mechanisms for powering other devices as well. One type, the Everlite (http://www.newlite.com), can supply power to recharge cell phones, Blackberries, iPods, GPS units and other devices.

One way solar powered lamps accomplish that amazing task is by using bulbs that use electricity very efficiently - such as LEDs. The older generation will remember LED clocks and watches from the 1970s. Those clocks had red numbers, made from a series of dots or lines composed of Light Emitting Diodes.

Back then, they required substantial power, but they’ve been vastly improved. LEDs (no longer just red) can now produce very bright, natural spectrum light with a minimum of power. For example, LED bulbs used in the home (not solar powered), can last 10 years or more, while consuming much less electricity to illuminate them.

One of the drawbacks of traditional electric Coleman lamps is the need for heavy batteries - either the large, rectangular (and massive) 6 volt type or several D-sized. With modern fluorescent or LED-type lamps that’s no longer necessary. The power requirements are much lower.

An alternative to electrical lamps is the still-popular propane or kerosene. Either can be used as a means of producing light, and they are cost-effective and produce adequate light. But refilling propane devices is less convenient and kerosene still has that unpleasant smell. For those who prefer them, however, they are available and usually at lower cost than solar powered or LED lamps.

Whichever method you prefer, always pack at least two lighting sources - a Coleman-style table lamp with a handle that can be hung on a branch or set down and a flashlight. You’ll use both frequently.

But if a total disconnet from modern conviences is not your ball of wax, they their is one more choice, a portable generator. Although some of these generators could be a little cumbersom, they are still portable enough to carry just about anywhere. Most portable generators run off of gasoline. This is a big drayback because gasoline is so flamable. But a generator can provide all the electricity needed to support a full camp. One other drawback from a generator is the fumes. So, if you like and want to use this choice don’t enclose the generator within any quarters.

Some of the Exciting Alaska Fishing Camps

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009
Ian Koch asked:

Alaska is a fantastic region; not only for fishing enthusiasts but for nature lovers from all over the world. It is said that when USA purchased Alaska from Russia many, many years ago, it made the best bargain ever. And people who lives there or has been there will understand why. This territory is famous all over the world for it’s hunting and fishing capabilities, it’s purity and cleanness and it’s wild and exotic nature sceneries.

Alaska fishing camps are available in plenty that serve as an excellent entertainment and sports center for those who are inclined to fishing. Some of the fishing camps are built on the lakes and the rivers to provide you an exciting experience that you can remember for your lifetime. These camps are excellent places for great fishing with deluxe tents and fine food served for you during camping. Thanks to a lot of competing companies you can get great service for a decent price from most of them.

We can categorize the camps based on the location of the camp. As a broad category we can divide them into South East Alaska fishing camps and the South Central Alaska fishing camps.

Some of the camps or lodges in the Southeast region are Alaskan Fishing Adventures, Glacier Bay Country Inn, and Sitka Point Lodge & Fishing Charters. ‘Alaskan fishing adventures’ is a world class fishing charter for the salmons. The lodging facility has 3 bedroom and 3 baths.

The boat used for the charter is powered by the Twin 225 Fourstroke Honda outboards. The rods and the reels used in the camp are from G Loomis and Penn. You may check out their website for more details on the price for the fishing charter and the lodging. There are many websites that give details of all the lodges and the fishing camps available in the Southeast region.

Why Camp in the Costa Brava?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009
Stephen Lane asked:

With sun, sand and sea it’s no wonder that the Costa Brava is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Britain’s travellers each year. It’s got some outstanding sights, some great family days out and, of course, miles of rich, golden sandy beaches, ideal for relaxing on for hours at a time.

On top of this, some of the best campsites in Spain are located on the Costa Brava, meaning that you have a great selection of attractions and activities on your doorstep from the moment you wake up in the morning. Camping in Spain is one of the best ways to experience this world class example of the great outdoors. Here are some of the great campsites that Spain has to offer along the popular Costa Brava coast.

Camping Internacional de Calonge

Up on the hillside with excellent views of the bay of Palamòs, this well run campsite is a great choice for those camping in Spain’s Costa Brava region. The golden sands of the coast are practically on the doorstep, and there’s plenty to keep your family entertained on site as well. As well as two full sized pools, the campsite offers tennis, football and volleyball for those seeking an active break, as well as bicycle hire to explore the beautiful surrounding area.

Camping la Siesta

Despite its name, Camping la Siesta is not a sleepy campsite by any means! Lively is a more fitting description, and the tennis and volleyball are well suited to children and adults alike, while the little ones can have hours of fun at the popular children’s playground. On top of this, there are two large swimming pools as well as a number of bars and a cosy restaurant.

Camping Cypsela

With a five star rating, Camping Cypsela is amongst the most luxurious campsites in Spain. The forest surroundings give the place a real feeling of seclusion and privacy while not fencing explorers in. That said, some of the attractions on site will make day trips hard to justify: there is a full sized pool and one specifically for children, and plenty to do beyond that including tennis, basketball, volleyball and bicycle hire. With plenty of golf in the area and one of the finest beaches in the region just a stone’s throw away, Camping Cypsela is about as good as camping in Spain can get.

Camping Castell Montgri

If you have slightly older children, Camping Castell Montgri is a better choice than many of its neighbours. As well as various activities for all age groups, and three generous pool complexes, this campsite in Spain boasts a nightly disco for teenagers, allowing parents some quality time on their own, safely away from the (thankfully soundproofed!) disco. Between Roca Maura Mountain and the beach, you’re guaranteed outstanding some outstanding scenery along with a fantastic holiday.

Camping Nautic Almata

This 4 star campsite is adjacent to a spacious nature reserve and with direct access to the kind of golden sandy beach the Costa Brava is well known for. If you’re looking for plenty of family friendly activities from your camping holiday in Spain, this campsite is well suited, offering everything from aqua aerobics to live music. Whether exploring the local area, or simply relaxing with a drink in the shade of the palm trees, Camping Nautic Almata is an excellent choice.

As I said at the start of this, the great weather, plenty of family friendly attractions and stunning scenery make the Costa Brava an ideal choice, so why not consider a camping holiday in Spain for 2009? The campsites have fantastic facilities and activities for all the family and they offer a great way to explore the surrounding area. Forget a muddy field in Britain next summer: camping in Spain is a world apart.

Where to Travel in Your Rv: Choosing a Campsite

Thursday, November 19th, 2009
Salem Hassan asked:

When it comes to RV travel destinations, the question is not, “Where can you go?” but rather, “Where can’t you go?” There are so many choices in RV travel; the real challenge becomes selecting a single destination out of the many possibilities available. Whether you are hitting the road for a weekend or a month, there are more than enough options to suit every taste and budget. However, when it comes to selecting your campsite, there are a few travel tips that will ensure any RV vacation is a successful one.

The Advantage of RV Clubs

If you like to get your money’s worth when you travel, an RV club might be the solution. Membership into these clubs can often get you discounts on campsites, as well as plenty of good advice on how to choose the best campsites for your needs. RV clubs can also help you choose the right vehicle if you are still in the market for when or are ready for an upgrade. Dealerships like Ameri-Camp are found across the country and offer a variety of travel trailers and fifth-wheels, and an RV club can advise you on how to shop for the best trailer for your individual needs.

Making Reservations

Most campgrounds will make reservations for you, whether you are considering a state park or a private campground. It is always a good idea to make a reservation in advance, especially if you are traveling during peak season for a particular area. If possible, you can even scope out the park to find your ideal camping spot, whether you like to find a location near the bathhouse or on the lakeshore. Many camps also offer activities like swimming and a playground for the kids, so take these amenities into consideration as well when you are booking your campsite.

Types of Parks

There are numerous types of RV destinations to choose from, with private campgrounds, state parks and national parks topping the list. Private parks can range from a rustic campsite to a full service resort complete with a golf course, pools, tennis courts and even spas. The quality of private campgrounds can vary considerably, so do your research before booking one of these locations, by getting a recommendation from someone who has staying in the camp or by checking out the area yourself. National and state parks can provide plenty of breathtaking scenery and outdoor adventure, but the campsites may be very rustic and some may not include RV hookups. Some campers prefer to find a private campsite outside of the state park so they can enjoy the wonders of the park during the day and the amenities of a private campground at night.

The RV experience provides a wide range of potential travel destinations for your travel pleasure. Whether you are looking to spend a little time on the beach to escape the winter chill or camp in the mountains during the summertime, your RV can take you where you want to go in style and comfort.
